GETO Conquers Challenges in Rangdaqu Grand Bridge, Yarlung Zangbo River Basin

In Qingduo Town, Bomi County, Tibet, at an altitude of 3,200 meters, between the high mountain gorges on the left bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River, the Rangdaqu Grand Bridge—co-constructed by GETO—is progressing steadily.

The bridge spans 598.2 meters, with the main bridge designed as a low-tower cable-stayed bridge using a pier-girder consolidation system (124m+246m+124m), serving as a critical connection between the Duoji and Domuge tunnels. The main towers rise 47 meters above the bridge deck, while the approach spans consist of 2×44m T-girders continuous spans, requiring construction to adapt to the complex mountainous terrain of the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin.

GETO Rangdaqu Bridge Project

GETO is responsible for the cast-in-place box girder internal formwork, providing custom aluminum formwork solutions. The bridge construction involves a total of 30 segments, with GETO providing internal formwork from Segment 8 onward. By July, the first segment of the cable-stayed bridge was successfully completed; by early September, the first box girder internal formwork was fully finished.

The project construction faces multiple challenges: extreme high-altitude hypoxia and volatile weather demand high stability for both personnel and equipment. The dense internal diaphragms and cable-stayed diaphragm structures inside the box girder make conventional formwork - sliding methods infeasible, requiring instead a piece-by-piece assembly approach. This imposes strict requirements on formwork assembly flexibility, material strength, and lightweight performance.

GETO’s customized aluminium formwork, featuring green sustainability, high strength, lightweight, and flexible assembly, is perfectly suited for Segment 8 and subsequent box girder internal formwork, including side molds, internal diaphragms, and cable-stayed diaphragms.
